What Does Your Network Marketing Prospect Really Want

A common answer I hear when I ask someone why they want to go into business for themselves is that they want to make more money, or they want to become rich, or they want to achieve financial freedom.

But really, this is actually not what they want.

Someone I knew informed me a long time ago that MONEY IS ENERGY.

Interesting, isn't it?

Let us say you ask a person what would make their lives better or more exciting. They answer, "Electricity. I want more electricity. That would make my life easier and more entertaining."

So, you toss them a couple batteries. So now they have more electricity in their life. Does that satisfy their needs?

Is that something that makes their lives better?

No, it won't. Actually, what they want is electricity FOR THE PURPOSE OF running a coffee maker, the DVD player, the game console, lights, the dishwasher, and all the other conveniences that make our lives better and more enjoyable.

Money is like those batteries. It just has POTENTIAL energy.

You CAN?T hold electricity, and you CAN?T hold money.

You can grasp a battery.

And you can hold a piece of paper or a coin.

But if you place both on a desk and ignore them, neither will make your life better.

It is what we DO with that POTENTIAL energy that makes a difference in our lives.

When your prospect tells you that they want to earn more money, or that they want to be wealth, chances are they have a particular idea in their mind about what that will look like. They might imagine a larger home, a nicer car, freedom from their company job, or spending additional time with their family.

THAT is what you need to know about your prospect.

THEN you can reverse that into how much income that will take.

When I decided to go into network marketing, it was not to make millions of dollars. I really wanted to get my freedom from a corporate job.

I imagined myself basking on the front porch sipping a mug of coffee while all the employees were sitting in stop and go traffic drinking coffee from a paper cup. I imagined myself going on vacation whenever I wanted to, without having to beg my boss for permission or carefully leveraging vacation time around long weekends. I imagined myself shopping for and enjoying the holiday season while everyone else was stressed because of the tight schedules they had due to work requirements.

That?s what I wanted from MY own business.

What is your prospect?s vision?

What does their life LOOK like once they've started their own business? What are they struggling with now that being an entrepreneur could give them independence from? What do they fancy MORE of that running their own business could get them?

In many cases, it will NOT take a LOT of money for your prospect to achieve their vision!

Many people neither need nor desire a large estate or an expensive sports car. Most people don?t participate in boating enough to want a fancy yacht. Many do not want an exclusive country club membership. Most wouldn?t know where they?d travel to even if they owned their own jet.

Once they IMAGINE a life of freedom, the majority will NOT see themselves living the life of a king or a queen with all the fancy robes and palaces.

They will imagine themselves at the park with their kids on a pleasing spring day. They will see themselves fishing on a serene Wednesday morning. They will envision themselves enjoying a late morning in bed. They will envision themselves golfing or going to a baseball game with their kids. They will imagine themselves spending the holiday season without any stress over finances.

Your prospect will have things they LOVE to DO.

What if you could enable them get more of THAT?

When you are talking to your prospect, jot down their desire. Read it back to them to make sure you have it right. Then email it to them that way they will have a copy of it.
