If Haiti is Cursed, Then so is America

http://hubpages.com

It is amazing how many Christian believe as Pat Robinson believes that Haiti is cursed for the actions of their forefathers and this is the reason for her history of trouble and disasters. If we would examine our own history, I believe we will find many things, that could cause God to turn away from us.

UN blast shows Taliban still potent

http://www.dawn.com

ISLAMABAD: A suicide blast at a UN office shows a new Pakistani Taliban leadership capable of devastating attacks, analysts say, despite offensives the military believe broke the back of the organisation.

Four Pakistanis and one Iraqi were killed in the bombing Monday at the Islamabad offices of the World Food Programme (WFP), when a man disguised in military uniform walked into the lobby and detonated his explosives.

Obama in Cairo: Words, Words, Words

http://original.antiwar.com

The Obama fan club – and by this I mean the media, of course – is already hailing our President’s Cairo speech as the latter-day equivalent of the Sermon on the Mount, and there is no doubt that it was a splendid performance.

All the usual superlatives are being unleashed by our love-struck commentariat – soaring, inspiring, intelligent, a triumph – and yet the reality, as the cheers die down, is that his Cairo peroration was just what we have come to expect from this President: pretty words, and even prettier promises. But where’s the action?

Organizational Politics

http://www.squidoo.com

We don't have to watch too much political news coverage before we are reminded of the presence of politics in our own organizations. Most people find a negative connotation when it comes to organizational politics, but our roles as leaders require influence - - and to influence others requires building relationships of trust and persuading others to follow us. That's what politics are all about.

Religion And Politics: Polite Conversation?

http://www.squidoo.com

HERE'S WHAT I THINK about RELIGION and POLITICS as POLITE CONVERSATION

Religion And Politics

Some things are TOO important not to be discussed. (or argued about, if necessary)

Just don't end up on the evening news, OK?

Religion and politics SHOULD be discussed. After all it IS an election year.

Political buttons as badges of ideological tribes

http://www.squidoo.com

Political buttons are popular because they are ways to make an internal ideal part of one's external appearance. Some people collect political buttons as a hobby, but more commonly, people gather political buttons that represent who they are at the moment, in a social sense. So, people who wear a button for a particular candidate or cause are hoping, consciously or unconsciously, to come across other people who are wearing the same button. They are hoping to meet long lost members of their own political tribe.

Right This Way, Madame President

http://www.squidoo.com

The presidential campaign of Hillary Clinton has raised the role of women in politics back into the spotlight. While there hasn't been a woman to hold the highest office in the United States before, women have held the top position in other countries. We're still hearing about "the first woman to" in this area, but there are fewer and fewer opportunities for that phrase. Yeah!

This lens is part of a series celebrating the achievements of women in various fields, including sports, politics, science, business and more.
